The RSO/01 tracked tractor was a fully tracked vehicle developed for the Wehrmacht based on Soviet tracked tractors to overcome the challenges of the difficult terrain, particularly on the Eastern Front. It helped secure supplies in difficult terrain and served combat units as a prime mover for anti-tank and infantry guns. It came with an enclosed driver’s cab, which was replaced in later vehicles by a semi-cabin with a canvas top. The RSO also served as a prime mover for anti-tank guns, and the RSO chassis as a mobile platform for the 7.5 cm PaK 40.
